Having worked together for more than a decade, Erika Hachey and Andrew Moss shared a vision of creating a law firm that puts clients at the centre of everything they do. Their experience working for insurance companies gave them a unique perspective on personal injury and insurance law, including how insurers evaluate claims and defend against them.

In 2021, they founded Moss Hachey Law with a different purpose: to help individuals and families navigate difficult legal and insurance matters and pursue the compensation and benefits they are entitled to. Today, the firm represents clients throughout New Brunswick in personal injury, disability, insurance, and other civil matters.

Why We Started Moss Hachey Law

Before founding Moss Hachey Law, Erika Hachey and Andrew Moss spent years working primarily in insurance defence. They represented insurance companies and their customers in lawsuits and insurance claims brought by injured people seeking compensation or benefits.

That experience gave them an inside look at how insurance claims are investigated and defended. They saw how insurers assess medical records, investigate the circumstances surrounding an injury, evaluate liability and determine what they believe a claim is worth.

Over time, Erika and Andrew came to recognize that most people making injury and insurance claims are not trying to take advantage of the system. They are ordinary people dealing with an unexpected injury, illness or loss and trying to understand a complicated legal and insurance process.

That realization led them to leave insurance defence and establish Moss Hachey Law in Fredericton in 2021. Their goal was to use their experience from the other side of the table to help individuals navigate the claims process and pursue the compensation and benefits they need.
